Holy Thursday

Photos by Jane Winstead
Father Tim and Father Dominic participated in the washing of the feet ritual at the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday evening. In the Church, the ritual dates back to the 12th century. In those days the Pope washed the feet of 12 sub-deacons after his Mass and of 13 poor men after his dinner, according to Catholic Encyclopedia. The practice celebrates the way that Jesus washed the feet of his 12 apostles before the Last Supper.
